Our Impact & achievements

2020

Girls Toward Leadership was founded in 2020 when the Covid19 started taking all over the world including Afghanistan. Everything for the majority of people especially youngsters stopped; education, work, and going outside. We started our activities online with the mindset of staying at home, being safe, and still getting educated. During the year 2020,

We held online motivational and educational sessions on mental health topics, the importance of gender in ending violence, leadership skills, Covid19 and violence against women, and so on.

We implemented a UN Women project holding in-person and online programs on ending violence against women, the status of women in Islam, debate, and a leadership program.

On the 16 days of activism of the UN for ending violence against women, we organized a campaign accepting photo/video and written messages of young Afghan women and men on ending violence against women and girls.

2021

Held online programs exercising leadership

Initiated the Let’s Discuss! Series on ClubHouse and held it on ending violence against women, women and their position in power, and the importance of girls’ education in Afghanistan.

We implemented a SIDP project of the American University of Central Asia and organized a virtual educational camp for Afghan girls inside Afghanistan teaching them

2022

Continued implementation of the virtual education camps with the second and third rounds

Implemented another SIDP project of the American University of Central Asia and organized three rounds of training on applying for scholarships for Afghan girls in Afghanistan.

Held an online session on gender equality and tackling the climate crisis in Afghanistan and raising awareness on the role of women and girls in tackling the climate ciris
